Skimmy Dipping

Alrighty, I definitely need to quit skimming so much when I read! Today in sorting the mail I ran across something that didn’t register until after I had passed it and had to do a double take.

What I thought I had read was Medieval. The second time I took a good look at it, I realized that it really read Meadville Hospital.

Yeah who wants to go to a Medieval Hospital? Yeah. Not me!

$100+ co-pay to have someone put leeches on you? Pass!

Or maggots to eat all of the dead tissue out of your open wounds.

Or bled to drain you of infection.

Dude...we've done leeches several times. It's gross!!
But, it helps get the circulation back to reattached digits.

Maybe instead of leaches they would just "bleed you." Was that medieval? idk

GM wins! I couldn't remember all the nast-ness that was used back in the day, but that's definitely vomit worthy!

A prize A prize! You get a prize.

b. I had heard they used leeches still, but I forgot what for.

Ew icky icky icky

The thought of those things is making me twitch and spasm in pure revulsion.

Not...the bleeding was just evil. I watched Sense & Sensibility for the first time last week and was disgusted by that particular scene. Sick-o.

No medieval hospitals for Lady!

Although could you imagine if they dressed in Renaissance garb...that would be cool.

They still use maggots too. They're in the pharmacy at the hospital.
