Werewolves of London

Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London

OK so here's how it goes. I didn't feel like being all super mathy-minded and shrinking down the video, so my apologies to your eyes for the deprivation of the scary man with coke bottle glasses singing about the mucho macabre(sp?), not to be confused with the chupacabra.

In any event I thought I would show a few pictures from the dance. Don't know if I'll be wearing the outfit again this year, but whatevs. All pictures were copied from the fb.

Cha Cha Boochie Cha Cha Cha Boochie ROLL CALL!

Who knows where that came from? OK so, every now and then I actually check out the little stat counter thing at the very bottom of my page.

Yeah, that thing, and you just thought it was for looks. HA! but I digress. Whenever I would check out the keyword thing, it always baffled me that people would come to my page from the google search of usps trivia. Well when I put it in guess who came up as numero quatro? Yeah that's right, me. Kinda funny, kinda scary.

Also for some inexplicable reason my November 2008 archive is the most frequented. Maybe it's because I did the 30 day post challenge or whatever it's called, I've got the badge thingy somewhere on here I think....

The numero uno is actually the title of my blog something about lemons and lemonade, but who does that? ;)

The other one was the mexican horse race game. *insert giggles here*

Some of the other randoms include, boss hogg's car, battlecat, and stickless caramel apples. Speaking of fountains of useles knowledge...

And finally if you type in when life throws you a lemon into the google search bar, my blog came up second. I dunno though I think that depending on the compy you use google becomes prejudice or predisposed to suss out the types of things you would normally select...Am I wrong?

I Am...

...now officially a Certified Home Stager, not to be confused with being certifiable...which I have been for years. Not sure that I will actually get much business with this though, as I plan on simply doing this by word of mouth.

In other news. It's starting to cool off a bit here, and my hands are already getting crusty. I'm pretty sure you all wanted to hear that too. But what with typing and all, I notice it quite a bit more. Time to go apply some lotion, clean, and work.
Also, food for thought. I'm thinking of going as the ring leader master of the freak show for Halloween. It was originally supposed to be a regular old ringmaster.

But then I realized...oh wait my thighs already look like that IRL, maybe I should nix the riding pants? So I decided to rework this vest thingy that I'd bought a while ago with the intention of altering anyway.

Guess I should have done before & afters. But the before was only the vest, no extra frills or anything (ie the back laces.) In any event the more I was trying to plan my outfit around what I already have in my possession, the more I realized how dark it was going to look. I guess that begs the Q of how to do the make-up without becoming completely dark. I have to do the trial run, sometime this week as the dance is on Flyday. Which reminds me as part of the planning committee I've got a million and one things to do before now and then. ACK!

Pump Up the Jam

Yes, that's right folks still here and kicking. This summer has been a little cuckoo with the hours I was keeping as a lifeguard. That brief stint however has come to a close, much to my strange relief. In any event I have since been tasked with putting together the music for the YSA dances. Talk about making my day. The only real problem here is that I like all different kinds of music and dancing, while not everyone else is quite as open in their tastes. It also doesn't help with finding good fast songs to dance to, that don't openly inspire one to start jumping around like they were in Olivia Newton-John's music video of Physical revisited, or isn't obscene, explicit or profane, however redundant those three terms might seem. Believe me, when it comes to music and selecting tunes that will get the booties on the floor for that special night, I'm scrugglin' and yes I know I sp'd that one.

As for me I'm little on the nostalgic side at present so I would like to expand the repertoire beyond last month's top 40's to the actual 40's to present and everything in between, especially some world music or again something outside the realm of pop/soft rock, although I'm not ashamed to throw down a little Celine for a good slow song, but more likely not a song that graced the top 20 to our ever lasting annoyance and super secrety shower singing fondness. ;) In any event I'm having a pretty decent time skimming my personal collection of tunes and coming up with what will probably be way too much.

Another task I'm attempting to undertake is to teach little mini-dance lessons before we actually get started bringing back some classics like waltz, fox trot, and other fun ones like swing, salsa and for solo options, line dances. That's right hopefully most of the kids won't remember how awkward the macarena really was ;). Meh. Whatever it takes to get those backsides however dubious and caught up in cool to shake a little on the floor.

So, my question is this: any suggestions of sweet tunes to play next friday evening?

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Alrighty folks. Another update.

So soon?

I know. I know. It's out my usual habit as of late, but I couldn't let this one pass by without a little mention. Especially since I keep thinking about it every time I realize what my summer work will be.

First, we lead off with a classic.

And now for something really different...but alas they didn't have the part I was hoping to find. Lame-o's.

I was another semi-risque mostly for the lingo snippet from Superstar, just after the opening credits, when she's still a little girl, and pulls the boy from the pool and says "LIFEGUARD" and then does a running jump into the pool.

I just have to say that certain parts of this particular movie have been hitting closer and closer to home. it makes me laugh, but also extremely nervous.

Happy Birthday?

Alright, so I've maintained radio silence through the end of my semester. I passed my classes and have been lining up work for the summer. I was going to post a video here, but thought it might be a little too risque to those with virginian ojos. it's a clip from The House Bunny. I didn't realized until after I had decided to use this for my b-day postage, the age on the cake.

The part that is pertinent starts about :35 in, heads up.

That's right I'm 27. Insert involuntary spasm here.

How Can a Butt Be Cute?

I really want to see this movie. I might actually shell out good money to see it on the big screen.

Total.Nightmare.

OK so last night I had a dream or night mare really, that some how I had come to visit someone at my former sandbox place of employment, and had gotten suckered into working for them again to "help out." I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but it was awful!

My former Tyrannical Office Despot expected me to remember everything that I used to do however briefly I had done it before, and I couldn't remember at first why I had such trouble recalling things, but then I remembered. The reason was not because I'd been on vacation, but I'd been gone for over a year, and I wasn't on hiatus, but because they had fired me. The HNIC over the TOD was more unbearable than ever and the TOD was on a constant tirade and in my face about everything that I did or didn't do or could and couldn't remember. TOD was watching me work, leaning over my shoulder the whole time, just waiting for me to make a mistake...It was horrible!

Then when I had a moment's reprieve I finally started to think clearly, whereupon I had an semi-empowering realization, that if TOD came over again, I'd remind TOD that I was only doing TOD a favor and that I didn't HAVE to be there at all. Then I also realized that I had a return flight to catch, but I couldn't remember what the date was on the return ticket, and I needed internet access to find it, but of course for some reason they had had it removed, so you needed a password to get it. It was then that I decided I was just going to leave, and the dream dissipated. At which point I woke up feeling really weird. Definitely a bad experience. One I don't hope to repeat any time soon.

St. Valentine was the original Ed Hardy

Alrighty, so after some random person was sounding off about how Valentine's Day aka VD as I call it, I knew it was bunk, so I decided to resort to good old fashioned researching. I was reading this article when I cam across this particular sub-heading and statement: "Relics and liturgical celebration The flower crowned skull of St Valentine is exhibited in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Rome."

I think that their new slogan should read, "Ed Hardy...it's not just a trend, it's a tradition."

...Although in light of my referring to Valentine's as VD, maybe love kills slowly really is the apt slogan for them.

ICK.

Wonderful

FINALLY! This is the song that's been stuck in my brain off and on for the past year or so. Sad to say that if I hadn't been running super late to class this AM I would not have caught it. This means that I will inevitably end up listening to it about 20+ times per day over the next week or so, just so my brain can have some sort of closure. It will involve a lot of smiling to myself because of the serendipatiousness of the revelatory moment.

Normally it doesn't take me this long, when I get a partial "sound bite" of a song or lyric if you will stuck in my brain. Alright enough of that, time to go listen to the song uno tiempo mas!

Now that you know I'm full of it...myself...yeah I guess that works I've also had this little beauty cracking off every now and then too in the recesses of my brain.

As horribly off key as it is I still think I enjoy the performance as much as I do just listening to the original.

Projects Running Away

So over the Christmas break, I've been working on the sewing skills. Inspired by this and a couple of other over on the edge fashion niches I have decided to make some of my own articles of clothing. Combine this with two great classes which are demanding of time, a continually cluttered room, and more work sewing. I'm kinda crazy busy right now.

Oh yeah I'm also trying to catch up on the rest of my library books. Current count 5 to go.

PS For the 2nd half of my Anat & Phys I have the same lab instructor. Some of his stories never get old. I'm excited to share some new material with you all. I already have one, but lacking the handy dandy notebook, means I don't get it verbatim, which translates to not quite as funny.
