When Will I Learn?

If the pizza didn't taste that good the next morning, that two days later won't be any better either? Seriously.

A Trifecta of Tastiness

The other day whilst running errands with The Mom and MW, we came across this random stand/trailer in the Dollar General parking lot of all places. Although now that I think about that the two go semi-hand in hand. The reason we stopped was because they had elephant ears. Upon closer inspection ie when I was purchasing one of said ears, I noticed that they also had two other favorites boiled peanuts and shaved ice. Upon reporting this to GM she said, "It's a trifecta!"

I love being home again. :D

Fast Sunday? More Like Sloooooow Sunday ;)

You never realize how much food is around, until you abstain. This makes me grateful for the abundance of food in our home, and two maybe I should have one central super secrety stash location. Although there are definite positives to having food stashes in case one of the "safe houses" is ever compromised. ;)

Waiting for Attention I'm Not...

The other day Lady, CQ, Peanut, MB & I all went to the beach for a much needed day off. On the way there we took the magic van which has power everything, and the DVD player, perfect for road trips and kids. Well about 5 minutes into the trip the kidlets were asking for snacks/treats/etc. So we passed them out and things were good for a while as we watched Cheese and Grommit (MB's term not mine).
Well when we started the second round of theatrical DVD entertainment, I was done trying to watch from the front row, and had on the earphones listening to my current favorite album.* MB asked me if he could have some. I was also munching on some snacky goodness at the time and presumed that that was what he was referring to. So when I tried to clarify what it was he was after he just smiled his little smile and kept pointing in my general direction. After about two more guesses I figured out he wanted to try my auditory buffet. It was on track 8 which is a personal favorite and has been for some time.

I handed back the ear buds for the kids each took one and were listening for a little bit, and I asked MB if he liked it and he nodded with a distracted look. At this point CQ asked what are they listening to?

I told her.

To which she responded, "Oh, geez." So I took the buds and let her listen to the track, and it's official, Jimmy Eat World is Kid Tested. Mother Approved! Although I'd prefer Jimmy to Kix almost any day ;)

Cleaning Out the DVR

As previously meantioned, I have a penchot for certain children's TV.(...Comes with the territory). From time to time I sift through and delete old episodes or ones that tend to annoy more than others. Well in today's little sifting, sorting, and deleting process, I watched one of my personal favorite episodes. I'm pretty sure that this particular segment is the only reason it is still saved on the DVR. Be sure to watch at 1:45'ish. Actuallly watch from that first mark to about 2:20, and then again at around 5:40 to the end. Otherwise the frame is so shaky that it provides for rather craptastic viewing.

Please note the nifty little Gondolier statuette, but for all intents and purposes in my little schpiel here, looks a bit like Mary Poppins pointing to the chalkboard ie TV heading the viewers in the right direction. How suggestive. hehe

On another note, I think that these little snippets also effectively sum up most women's relationships with chocolate.

Happy Chocolate Day!

Apparently the official chocolate day is noted here.

Lemon Heads: The Anti-Church Treats

So last weekend was Stake Conference. I was definitely reminded of a lesson that my dear sister who had been away at college taught us all one Stake Conference Sunday.

This sister had learned many valuable lessons while away at school during the year. Some of them she was nice enough to share with the rest of us kidlets younger siblings.

Church Treats.

She educated us on the fact that in order for church treats to be successful you needed to remove them from their original packaging and put them into *ziplox or the like so as to minimize that obnoxiously loud celophane crinkling noise that would inevitably occur during one of the more most quiet moments of the meeting.

For this particular Conference Sunday we decided on those...parfait style and these.

Since these come in a box there was no celophane so we didn't switch packaging.

We rolled in to Conference in the back half as per usual unless you show up 30 minutes to an hour early, but we were in front of one of the TV monitors. Yeah we rolled old school back then. Meh If it ain't broke... In the gym we had two TVs on carts. These TVs even had the sweet wood paneling. I still remember them with a certain fondness. :D

Aaaaanyway.

In this particular section, the chairs are all metal folding chairs. There's nothing wrong with sitting on these unless it's for the entire three hours of church, but I digress. So things were going great and the CT rations were working wonders. Church would never be the same. Well after one or two go rounds the CTs were placed on an empty seat between two of the "kids" (let me qualify that statement these kids were about 19 and 20).

A few minutes later one of the kids reached for the now open box of lemonheads and grabbed the sealed end. Normally I would appreciate the ensuing musicality of hard candy on metal chairs maybe even play around with it to see if you could create different sounds when varying certains aspects, this could get very scientific. But Alas, such was not the case.

When the candies danced onto and almost immediately off of said metal chair, all of us had to stifle laughter and of course then there was the embarrassment that followed.

Thankfully no one said anything after Conference was over, but I'm pretty sure they were wondering what the crack was happening and why were they left out.

*That was originally a typo but pretty sure I liked it that way so it stayed. ;)

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

I MET KLIN!
I MET LAUREN!
I MET NANCY FACE!

And several other wonderful girly bloggers last night the Queso-Cake Factory. I think Klin’s Mr. might have also earned a new moniker? But I’m not entirely sure about that one. Dinner was tasty and conversation was great. I have to say that Lauren looks something like the IRL version I pictured of Rosalie. Kinda funny. Don't believe me? Check out the pictures.

Glittersmama told me to say hi to Klin if she was there, and to my happy surprise she was! I’ve always enjoyed her comments on posts, and have to admit I hadn’t read her blog much…but I think I might be picking that one up on a more regular basis now.

The Face women are just as kind IRL as they are on their blogs, which makes events like this completely worth it. One of my favorite comments of the evening yesterday was said before everyone showed up; and the few of us who had arrived a little early were realizing that we were all there for the party. “I feel like it’s a blind date.” It was kind of that feeling of I’m excited to meet these people, but I really have no idea what they look like. haha.

It also helps that there was a lot of tasty food to go around. I’d never been to Cheesecake Factory before, and I will definitely be going again…but it probably won’t be any time soon it was ex$pen$ive, but that probably has more to do with the fact that I got two slices of the house special..."one for me and one for hee"

This kid has coined some of my favoritest expressions.

Savor the Flavor

One of my very dear friends sent this to me, and I just had to share with my blogging buddies! I used to sing this song and do the arm motions all the time with my sisters when we were kidlets.

Big Thanks & a Hearty Congratulations!

This weekend I headed to the OC for a very dear friend's wedding. The morning came when I was to leave. I was so absolutely keyed up, that I woke up feeling very ill and still needing to pack my suitcase. I went back to sleep in hopes that it would help take the edge off, as it usually does. That worked for about five minutes after I got up and then the anxiety returned.

On my way to the airport, in order to help calm my nerves I called GM to talk. She very geniously pointed out to me that this would be my first trip that did not involve going "home" or anywhere near it. After this realization I wasn't calmed down right away, but it did allow me to think about things.

I've taken road trips before in similar situations, but in those cases, I knew exactly where I was going. It's hard to explain quite what I mean. Anyway, it dawned on me later that day as I was picking up the rental car, "This is my first 'adult' trip." Not adult in any nawty sense, but in the sense that I am over 25 and pretty much going on vacation alone. I planned it from start to finish and was in charge of making all the arrangements/accommodations for myself. A really big step for me.

When I arrived everything went fairly smooth. As soon as I walked out of the airport, anticipating a blast of extreme heat, as I have been taught to expect here in the sandbox, I was pleasantly surprised! I thought I was at home, only it was less humid. It was love at first...sight? Anyway you get my drift.

Thanks to a very dear friend I was able to stay in the area that I had wanted to, which was relatively close to the airport, but not obnoxiously so. It was two miles from the coast. Woot!

That night I was to attend the family dinner as requested by my friend, so figured it was cool. I even had to double check with her to make sure it was. I arrived a little early for dinner and got to spend time talking with Nat and catching up. I alway feel like there isn't too much to tell about myself in situations like that because truly, much never seems to change.

But I digress.

Dinner was pretty good Mexican food. The burrito should be called a burro because there was nothing little about it. It took up a whole one of those turkey roaster pans...just for one...ONE! They also had some tasty brownies in mint, oreo, peanut butter, marshmallow, and strawberry frosting.

I headed back up to Newport when things died down. When I got there the temple lights were still on, but sadly my phone takes for.ev.er. To get into camera mode, and so no pic :(

The next AM I was a little late getting to the temple, but made it in time to jump in a few pics. My friend's dear grandparents have decided to help me get married as well and set me up with guys around my age. This is probably the first wedding where I have people have actively been trying to get me married as well. Which I find funny. Even at my sisters' weddings there was never any of that so it was a unique experience for me.

After pics we headed back over to her parent's house, which I had intended to get a picture off the end of their back yard which overlooks a golf course, and is right on the edge of the national forest. B-E-A-U-tiful. Alas, no dice there either. Although we got into a massive Twilight series discussion, which was spurred on by several things. teehee. I even showed off Lauren's Bite.

The time came to get dressed in our finery and head over to the Country Club for the reception. When we rolled up, they even had complementary valet. Woot! Dinner was TASTY! It was some of the best reception food I have ever had at a wedding! It was better than MMMM MMM good! The flowers were Amay-za-zing. It was so beautiful yet simple.

During the reception, I was asked to go get their marriage license back at the house and had to make two trips for that one because the house was locked. Then there was dancing, although I saddened by the fact that there was no Ice Ice Baby to lip sync to ;)

But seriously, in my time driving I realized that I need to thank Nat for my "big break" and the opportunity for my first solo vacation.

All in all it was a good time. Although a little word to the wise, if you're going to trash/junk up "decorate" the get away car, make sure you use stuff that isn't going to ruin the car ie shaving cream which will etch the windows. That's why they invented car window paint. ;)

This morning I did NOT want to leave! It was so beautiful there and the weather was perfect, I had a hard time going to the airport. Although oddly enough some people who were at the wedding were on my flight back into the oven full of sand.

So to my dear friend Nat,

Congrats to you and Robert! You've worked hard and got exactly what you wanted.
P.S. I'm pretty sure that Esther had you pegged ;) and one other thing, sorry about the crappy hand writing on your sign-in book. I can't write well, when I'm nervous/ stressed out.

BIG HUGS

Back to the Future or Numero Uno!

Today is a landmark.

The day I opened for business on this grand invention of Father Al's: Teh Internets. Translation: My blog was founded one year ago.

Picture it! 2007!

It was a warm June day, but you couldn't tell it from the thermostat setting.

I was wearing--

never mind what I was wearing. In my daily correspondence con GM she asked if I was busy. She told me to read this.

I didn't get drawn in right away, but I did peruse a little here and there.

Fast forward a few weeks and my sister sent me a link to the infamous post.

From there I was pretty much hooked. It's been an interesting year with blogging and discovering uncharted territory. I've had some bizarre themes that I've been through including blogging about my mid-afternoon sweet tooth,

and the hopscotch down memory lane leading up to my birthday.

But let's face it, who could forget David Bowie in a codpiece?

scared.for.life.

I can't really say that I've grown a lot or learned a lot except that the best way to tell a story is with visual aids. I can't even say that I've shared things of a truly profound nature. I have however read about many incidences where my fellow bloggy friends did made it through such things as this and that is why I keep coming back. Thank you for sharing your stories!

PS I still have something of a blogging inferiority complex.

I Forgot...

Last Friday at work for insurance reductions we have fitness testing a yearly torture butt kicking assessment involving full sit-ups, push-ups, and wall sit, and among other things a blood test.

Not wanting to have to wait all day until I could eat something I scheduled my appointment for the earliest slot available on the last day, when I knew I wouldn't be as busy.

Since it was first thing, I went dressed for the ocassion.

I had packed a bag with clothes to change into after the glorified "you're too fat for the sidewalk" ordeal was over.

I knew I wasn't as healthy as last year, but it's amazing what you can will yourself to do.

For example, when I was in my Freshman year in college I was probably at one of my most out of shape and unhealthy weights ev.er. I still managed to climb Table Rock in the Tetons. I think I take after my Grandma in that rite. Meaning the I'll do whatever I want and don't tell me differently.

But I digress.

After it was over and I was looking forward to changing out of my gym clothes, I realized to my horror that I forgot to pack a brassiere.

SO off to the closest store to obtain the necessary evil. When I first walked in I saw this

and it made me smile right back!

Oh Crap…Somebody Whizzied on the Floor

Or they might as well have! This morning whilst driving in to work I couldn’t resist toting along my brand new box of cereal. (Super Tasty p to the s.)

I started to put it in into the passenger seat where I nestle most of the things I need quicker/easier access to during the rush hour jam session. The thought that then popped into my head was ”…I’d better put this right beside me…One good stop will send it spilling all over the place. So I wedged put it betwixt myself and the arm rest.

Perfect fit.

I knew I loved this cereal.

So I successfully made the first stop and headed on my way. As I pull up to the stoplight to enter the love hate relationship that is the freeway, the cereal box decided to mistake the floorboard of my car for a giant red cereal bowl.

The ten second rule did soo not apply to this situation.

I do not love this cereal.

Now I really will have to take my car to the carwash.
Hopefully they won't have the urge to give it a milk bath.

Tasty Treat Time!

It's that time again!

That's right folks. It's 2:00pm over here and the cravings have kicked in! The scrumptious snack that is preoccupying the forefront of my thoughts would happen to be Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies.

Yummy.

However I have concocted a satisfactory alternative when the E Z Bake is not at hand. A lovely no bake treat which will surely satisfy the craving.

Today's Special would happen to be a lucious combination of chocolate kisses, and cuh-run-chy peanut butter.

Crazy Tasty. It sure put a smile on my face!

See------> :D

Ohh someone is SO mean! For the past two days I have been getting wafts of this delicious scent. That to me at this time of year is magnificent! So now I have a craving for a bag of these.
Sugar smells, soo good.

Ethnic Food

OK so not trying to be pc, just couldn't think of a better title, forgive the lameness. In any event, I went to a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant here in the sandbox; and I have to say that it is probably one of the favorite places I have been thus far. The other day a co-worker and I had ventured out to said locale for lunch I noticed this for the first time

Anyone?... Anyone?... Bueller?... Bueller? Yes at the bottom of the sign it says or "bring your own pot" admittedly, I noticed that before anything else. Hmmm what are we advertising here? Good authentic soup? or special home grown south of the border-esque herbs? I wonder of Juan Valdez and his donkey have anything to do with it?

So wait what exactly is in that bag? Did anyone ever see Clear & Present Danger?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Reminiscing about Mr. Ford pre-I wanna be a pirate accompanied by my wench with an eating disorder days. That last one...no telling where that came from, just enjoy the view.

On A Sour Note...

I've been craving these all afternoon...

& just now a craving for this....
