Funny Story

Do y'all remember the time I told this story?

Well with all the moving in and rearranging of things around Lady's house, I came across some old toys. One of which included a matchbox size replica of the General Lee.

Although secretly it was Boss Hogg's car that I really wanted

Do you think it was the kick-a$$ horns or possibly the classic appeal of a convertible?

Theme Song Mania

In my new line of work I am subjected exposed to a wide variety of children's programming. Obviously when things like this happen we adapt and move on. Well, in the large time spent viewing/background listening I have developed some favorites and some not so favorites.

Top 5 Programs of choice (not in any particular order, but generally these would be considered the less annoying shows)

1. Little Einsteins
2. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
3. Backyardigans
4. Charlie & Lola (grates a little on the nerves, but not horribly so)
5. Max & Ruby

After two solid weeks of this programming I also have another list, correct me if I am wrong or MW just let me know if there were any that I've forgotten, I would like to add another list

Top 5 Shows which I have at various times had the theme song or a featured song stuck in my head for days on end

1. Little Einsteins
2. Wonder Pets (still singing this one btw)
3. Pinky Dinky Doo
4. Go Diego Go (The Rescue Pack song, actually when I was chillin' with BL I would be a little secretly disappointed in the episodes where this song was not featured)
5. Wow Wow Wubbzy(sp?)

Yeah, I secretly or not so secretly enjoy watching WWW. GM said she wasn't really shocked by this when I told her. I know it can be obnoxious for some people, but I think the simpleness of the drawing is probably why I like it, and semi-heralds me back to the days of "yore" when I was a "young'en" and cartoons were much more simply drawn ie Garfield, Smurfs, Snorks, and the all time favorite (which I am still secretly hoping will be released to DVD some time soon) Muppet Babies.

In any event what I enjoy about the Diznee Channel morning programming is that even if the show is only 25 minutes long they have little programmed "shorts" which are like mini shows. In this particular case, I really enjoy Shaun the Sheep, which isn't too much of a stretch because I also really like Wallace and Gromit, this one in particular.

Which leads me to yesterday morning. There was one particular episode of Shaun the Sheep which made me giggle profusely (it starts at about 4:30). I couldn't find this one on regular 'ole yootoob but I think I found an international equivalent, so here it is.

Hear Ye Hear Ye...

It's happening again. The brain drain is making rounds. Not that I was doing too much to feel overly intellectual, seeing as how my books of choice were merely fluff and rubbish that didn't require too much mental input to figure it out. Although I have realized in my recent road trip, the fascination with listening to radio programs back in the day. It's a little more enthralling at least for me than TV, especially when it leaves you with a really good cliffhanger.

I highly recommend this type of audio entertainment if you are spending copious amounts of time in your car any time soon.

In other news, I love my new job and the kids that I work with. They are precious and fun. I would post pics of their cutie faces, but I don't know if their parents would be kosher with that ;)

Just take my word for it, you've seen the nieces and nephews. Trust my judgement ;)

Second to last I feel like a total schmo because in my haste and lack of preparation to leave town I left quite a mess (not gross mess, just clutter). For this I feel bad because the girl I was renting from who owns the house had left on her honeymoon. Yeah, I'm a jerk with impeccable bridge burning capabilities(?) I'm trying not to beat myself up for it, or at least be overly negative. I've got a lot of other crap that I'm trying to deal with.

Normally and under previous circumstances where in this wouldn't really bother me because perhaps the situations weren't that great or they required that a cleaning check be passed and so no qualms. Real mature. I know. In any event this was probably the best roommate living situation I had ever found myself in. Not only was the domicile good, but I had a functional relationship with the lady I paid rent to who also happened to live there as well.

I know that she is already stressed out beyond belief because of her schedule, and had time permitted I would have cleaned it to white glove-ish-ness standards myself. The point is how do you make restitution for something like this from 2500 miles away?

Lastly in church this past Sunday, despite the endless idle chatter that pervaded my thoughts, I did come to the realization that I need to remain focused in the reason I moved back.

That is all for now. I'm off to check out the posts of yours that I have missed. Don't be too shocked to get a new response on a supremely old post.

Some Items of Note

*I made it.

In one piece.

...mostly.

*While shopping at the Bullzeye yesterday evening with GM I saw something that was made specifically for NCS. A double feature in the DVD section which included the following titles:

Donnie Darko and Napoleon Dynamite.

I'm debating whether or not to go stand in line at Wally World this evening in order to buy a movie...ridiculous, I know, but my friend who works for another store of the same chain said that they were doing a bunch of give away type stuff for the midnight release... any takers?

Are you with me? Yay or nay?
*cricket cricket*
Which one means yes?

Can you name that movie?

P to the S- I miss my most recent roommate and her fiance, they were like brother and sister to me. I also have been thinking about other things which would normally be funny to my friends and myself, but nobody here gets them and I have to explain and therefore it's not really that funny anymore and in actuality seems a little lame once explained.

I also miss my friends that give good hugs. Random, but essential. You always need good hugging buddies that don't try to pass off some awkward side arm thing as a "hug." I quote what GM always says to Glitter, "Give hugs. Two arms."

That is all.

On The Road Again

Yeah, me & Willie Nelson.

Well I will be driving acros the country starting tomorrow and driving through Texas. Any suggestions of good places to stop along the way? If I had my way I don't think I would stop, but that would just be foolishness.

Good luck to me, I'll see you all in a little while.

Who Does That?

Let's just hope their wives don't like to watch hockey on TV.

The question is, was Chris Farley ever a sperm donor?

Don't miss the guy in the background to the left.

Something tells me he won't grow up to become a vet.

Now that's classy.

Someone must really love his new step-mom.

Sometimes the view from behind home plate isn't so great after all. If you're gonna split your pants, make sure your underwear doesn't have holes in it.

After seeing this I bet you'll never forget to wear sun-screen again.

So, It's All Settled Then?

I've made a decision which will give my life new purpose and direction over the next few years. This decision also involves having to shed most of my worldly possessions which is kind of rough considering I bought most all of them with my own money. Since I got such good deals on the furniture items, I could probably get the money out that I put into them, but that's not the point of this post. As it would be too expensive to tote said items, they've got to go.

Strange enough the thought of having to sell these items is making me more anxious than most anything else. As I was able to unload some of my unnecessary belongings to one of my former roommates and friend, I felt lighter, and really good about giving it to someone who I know will use the stuff. I know it's all just "stuff" and can be replaced, but I'm a cheap skate with expensive taste.

Truth be told there are only two pieces of furniture with which I am semi-loathe to part. My green chair hideous beast well loved piece that it is, and my bed or more affectionately my mattress which I scored MW helped me snag for $40 at a rockin' furniture auction.

It's the first time I've ever really known what it was like to have a good new mattress. No offense intended towards the family or anyone else, but honestly there's nothing like it. Truly don't read any negativity into that statement it was just factual. my sisters can attest to this, as I think the first time they ever really had new mattresses were when/after they got married.

I've got some black wire racks on the short side if anybody wants to stop by some time this week and pick them up as well as a collapsable TV stand which I have been using as a compy desk. Come by my house and we'll see what I can hook you up with in the way of semi used furnishings...they all have to go within the next week or so. After that they will probably be found at your my local charity resale store.

Dusting Off The Soap Box

It's not over just yet. I got this email from a trusted friend of mine who happens to live in California a little earlier today. I think it's important. If you want more info just follow the links ;)

Sorry if this comes out a little scattered, but I'm swamped right now - but this is too important to not get out there, so here it goes.

In case you haven't heard,
the CA Supreme Court hearings re: Prop. 8 open up on Thursday, March 5.

The basics (courtesy MercuryNews.com):

WHAT: The California Supreme Court will hold three hours of oral arguments from 9.am-noon Thursday on three lawsuits seeking to overturn Proposition 8, the ballot measure that amended the state constitution to reinstate the ban on same-sex marriage the court threw out last year.

WHO: Lawyers representing same-sex couples and a group of local governments led by the city of San Francisco will get 90 minutes to present their arguments. The lawyers are Shannon Minter, legal director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights; Chief Deputy City Attorney Therese Stewart and Michael Maroko, a partner of Los Angeles lawyer Gloria Allred.

The sponsors of Proposition 8 will have an hour. They are being represented by Pepperdine law school dean Kenneth Starr, the former independent counsel who investigated President Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

California Attorney General Jerry Brown has taken the unusual step of declining to defend the initiative. Deputy Attorney General Christopher Krueger will have half an hour to explain the state’s position.

WHO ELSE: A record number of 62 friend-of-the-court briefs have been filed in the case, more than two-thirds of them in support of striking down the same-sex marriage ban. They are available for viewing here.

****

So, as we've known, this battle is far from done, and we need your prayers more than ever. Please keep Prop. 8 in your prayers. Fellow marriage blogger Who Is John Galt? (the name's an allusion to "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand) did a great post on why Prop. 8 still matters on his blog, - it showed up here as well.

Another blogging buddy, Pearl Diver, created an event for the demonstrations/rallies around the state for Prop. 8.

And here's the FB link for praying for Prop. 8 to be upheld.

Please, friends, let's keep up the fight. I know life gets so, so busy, but we're in this for the long haul. Even when we apparently win battles, the opposition will look to undo our victories by circumventing the people and abusing the courts' judicial review capabilities. Remember that whole "Constitution hanging by a thread" prophecy? If that doesn't fit several things happening in our world today, friends, I don't know what does!

So, please, please, please, don't forget Prop. 8 in your prayers. Heavenly Father hears the prayers of His righteous children, and in recently reading Mormon and Ether, I was reminded by how if the people of this land fail to live the commandments, God will wipe them off of this chosen land. Let's show our mettle as followers of Jesus Christ.

Love you guys!!! You are so amazing. Keep up the good work!!!

Much love,
Christa
